This exhibition portrays how art reacts to and finds itself in its environment. Art, conscious of the role it plays in the common and public spaces, expresses itself in the debates that accompany conversations at every table. Renata Micherda-Jarodzka arranged the old building of a garrison bakery from the last century and proposed a model inspired by influences from all over the world – an interdisciplinary place welcoming artists, institutions, and various events. In the common areas of the building located at Kępa Mieszczańska, Renata, along with Mirosław Chudy, began displaying artworks (their own and created by other artists) that emerged as a response not only to personally relevant events, such as emigration, the fragility of life, but also to pressing issues, such as resources, environment, and equality. The exhibition is peculiar documentation of the process that started with the rebuilding of the old garrison bakery and concluded with the establishment of the Art Center “Piekarnia” (“Bakery”). “Piekarnia,” now, hosts several institutions: Centrum Sztuk Performatywnych Instytutu Grotowskiego, Camera Nera film studio, and Subiektywna Instytucja Kultury-Sześć Sześć Pe (66P) – a place established as a result of socialization of Renata’s painting studio that now serves as a meeting place for visual arts artists, littérateurs, and musicians.
